Welcome to CMHA Kelowna’s Naloxone training provided through Toward the Heart, BCCDC Harm Reduction Services.
“Illicit drug overdose continues to be the leading cause of unnatural deaths in British Columbia (BC). More than three year’s ago, BC’s Provincial Health Officer declared a public health emergency in response to the significant increase in illicit drug overdose deaths. The unpredictability of the illicit drug supply presents continual risk of overdose in people who use drugs.
Naloxone, the drug used to reverse the effects of opioid overdose is available in BC without a prescription.
This lesson will provide a brief overview of how to respond in the event of a witnessed or suspected opioid overdose.”
This training is mandatory for all CMHA Kelowna staff.
